Before subscription and production

A precise definition of the starting point, outcome and mastery standard.

Before starting

Suggested prior knowledge

  • Pays attention to a short message
  • Can answer with a gesture or a word
  • Is ready to imitate an audio model
To confirm mastery

Expected evidence of performance

  • Understands a short instruction supported by a gesture
  • Introduces themselves in simple words
  • Asks and answers using a model
  • Pronounces target sounds
Mastery rule

A skill counts as acquired only after two successes: once in direct practice and once in a new task the child has not seen before.

Measurement checkpoints

Assessment throughout, not just a final test

  1. Starting assessment after unit 2
  2. Progress assessment after unit 5
  3. Transfer assessment after unit 8
  4. Final mastery task after unit 10
In-lesson support

Support decreases as the child progresses

About 60% of the lesson is in the target language, with visual Arabic support when needed; the proportion increases according to the child’s performance.

Pictures, gestures, an audio model and a choice of answers.

Three paths

The same level, a suitable challenge for every child

  • Support: A short support bridge revisits the smallest missing skill in Comprehension, pronunciation and interaction, using a simpler model and more practice.
  • Main path: The main path follows the ten units with spaced review of earlier skills.
  • Challenge: The challenge path applies the same level 1 skill in a richer text or task, without randomly jumping to another level’s content.
Transfer to everyday life

Final mastery project

Communication task: your child records a spoken performance related to “My mini-presentation”, listens to it and improves it before the final version.

Optional home practice: 5–8 minutes: a daily question, a recorded answer, then repeating it once more clearly.

A familiar routine in every unit

Your child knows the stages, while the content increasingly challenges their thinking.

  1. 1

I listen to a clear model in context

  2. 2

I pick out useful words and structures

  3. 3

I imitate pronunciation and rhythm with feedback

  4. 4

I take part in a guided dialogue

  5. 5

I complete a new communication task

  6. 6

I record my performance, review it and improve it
