Not the same text and question for every level.
We begin by connecting sounds, letters and words. Fluency then supports comprehension, followed by inference, selecting evidence and comparing information. Each year builds on the previous one.
A different reader at every school year
Year 1 builds the letter code, year 3 teaches the use of context, and year 6 develops young researchers who examine information.
Reading means decoding and understanding
Speed alone is not enough. Accuracy, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and evidence build an independent reader.
Modelling comes before independence
The teacher models the strategy aloud, then children read, choose, explain and try again.
Reading enjoyment grows through success
Short texts, clear tasks and suitable challenges help children feel progress without pressure or discouragement.

The school year guides the choice, but assessment and actual performance determine the starting point. The CEFR indicator for French and English is approximate, not a certificate or an automatic age-based promise.
